You know you’re doing something right when you appear on the same bills as The Drums (who are one of my favorite bands to see live), Alvvays (Sat., Oct. 4 in London ON), or Foxygen, etc. What band am I talking about? I’m talking about, Montreal, Indie Rock band, Heat! Haven’t heard of them? Well let me do you the favour, and introduce you! Heat understands the power of delivery – they pay attention to the little things, like a split-second burst of meticulously planned and raggedly executed guitar which suddenly makes a good song become great. They’re also pretty handy when it comes to Lou Reed-style vocal slurs and nagging melodies.

Heat released a 5-track EP called, “EP” back in June. I’ve highlighted a video for the song, “Rooms”, which appears on the band’s new EP.

Another song that you should hear is called, “Susisfine”. Listen to that track below. Or you can listen to the full EP from the Heat Bandcamp page.  Make sure you also listen to “Ritual” and “25”.

alvvays - call the office - oct 4 - heatHeat play my hometown of London, ON, this Saturday, October 4th with sugar-pop darlings, Alvvays (fr. Toronto). Neither band has played London before, so you know they’ll be out to impress. Join Event on Facebook.

Wait, what? You don’t know who Alvvays are? Where have you been? Check out one of their latest videos, “Archie, Marry Me“.
