Electro Beat Infused duo, Sylvan Esso from Durham, N.C. was listed Indie Underground’s NXNE Top 25 Must See Bands for good reason and they proved that reason when they took the stage and gave the audience an eye-opening performance inside The Drake Hotel Thursday June 19th.

Right from the start and throughout their entire set, Amelia Meath (vocals) & Nick Sanborn (beats) put forth a very friendly / charismatic vibe. The duo were full of smiles and interacted with the welcoming Drake Hotel audience. Their music was a perfect blend of electro, alternative R&B(eats) and solid vocals. I remember whispering to my friend, “her vocals are so fantastic and diverse!” (which really added to the complexity of the style of music). Needless to say, the intimate sized Drake Hotel crowd was very receptive to their music and the effect it had on our dancing bodies.

Sylvan Esso’s song, “Coffee” (Listen to the MS MR Remix) is definitely their most popular song followed by, “Play It Right”, but “H.S.K.T.” is my favourite as it’s very fun to dance too. As witnessed proof at the Drake NXNE show and my weekly DJ Event, Indie Underground. Listen to “H.S.K.T.” below.

Purchase Sylvan Esso’s debut self-titled albu (which came out May 14, 2014) from 7digital (mp3s).
