Serious Sam Barrett, a UK-based artist, has released “The Seeds of Love,” a passionate folk album. The album, released just last week, displays a sincere tone entrenched in 12-string guitar and banjo.

“Bushes and Briars,” by the Yorkshire-based artist, is particularly impressive.

The evocative words and rich, well-paced guitar background are both passionate and sad.

The dazzling guitar work emerges without vocals at the midpoint, the song’s second half continuing the track’s flowing features.

From the vocal-only attraction of “Every Night Has an Ending” to the energetic zeal of “Blow Away the Morning Dew,” the album boasts a variety of hits.

“A year or so ago, my wife brought home a book called “The Seeds of Love” produced by the English Folk Music and Dance Society,” Barrett said of the album’s influences.

Barrett says that he was instantly taken with how lovely the book was, and the music from the book made up a significant portion of his album. In many cases, he was unfamiliar with the music and merely read the verses from the page, waiting for a tune that he believed fit the text.

He previously heard the music and opted to play it with the traditional tune for others who didn’t. He had wanted to make a record with a conventional vibe, a “true folk record,” for a long time, and this book was a huge help. He noted that every music on this album is about love in some form, whether sad, mistaken, lonely, or genuine.
